Maddie is a valued member of our team with expertise in sport-focused physiotherapy and performance-based rehabilitation. She holds a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo. She is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and the Orthopaedic Division.

Maddie has extensive experience treating acute orthopedic and sport-related injuries, including work in hospital emergency departments and specialized clinics managing complex pain, neurological, vestibular, and chronic conditions. Her strong background in strength and conditioning allows her to create individualized, sport-specific rehabilitation programs that emphasize injury prevention, performance, and confident return to sport.

She has worked with varsity, professional, and tactical athletes and has provided on-field coverage for sports such as volleyball, tennis, and football. Maddie has supported Team Ontario Women’s U18 Tackle Football at the National Championships and currently serves as the Team Physiotherapist for the Oakville Lady Hawks U19 JEWL team.

Maddy joins the TRSMWC as a Certified Athletic Therapist, a Level 1 Fascia Stretch Therapist, and Certified First Responder. She is excited to return to the Toronto Rock organization after previously completing a placement with the professional lacrosse team as a student athletic therapist during the 2023–24 season. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology with a Minor in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University as well as an Honours Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences in Athletic Therapy from Sheridan College. Maddy has worked with a wide range of athletes and organizations in addition to the Toronto Rock, including varsity football, hockey and Team Ontario Volleyball. Maddy is also the Associate Athletic Therapist for the Brantford Bulldogs of the OHL.

David Murray is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner and Certified Athletic Therapist with over 28 years of clinical and field experience. He currently treats a full caseload of patients of all ages with a variety of physical disorders and impairments.

David began his post-secondary education at Western University, where he received a degree in Physical Education. He also completed post-graduate Masters of Science degree in Kinesiology from McMaster University, postgraduate diplomas in Athletic Therapy from Sheridan College, where he graduated with high honours, and Osteopathic Manual Practice from the Canadian College of Osteopathy. With his Osteopathic and Masters studies, David focused his research on blood flow in individuals with spinal cord injuries. Currently, David continues to advance his knowledge and skills through further post-graduate studies in Clinical Neuroscience.

In addition to clinic life at the Toronto Rock Sports Medicine & Wellness Centre, David was a member of the Sport Medicine Team at McMaster University from 1997 – 2023, working as a clinical practitioner, field therapist, and student supervisor.

David’s lacrosse experience has extended to the professional and international level, serving as a member of the Sports Medicine Teams for Toronto Rock Lacrosse as well as Team Canada at the 2002 & 2006 Men’s World Field Lacrosse Championships, the 2003 Men’s World Indoor Lacrosse Championship, and the 2022 Men’s U21 World Field Lacrosse Championships.

Dr. Carla Edwards is a Sports Psychiatrist whose practice focuses on the treatment of mental illness and psychological struggles in athletes. In her clinical practice, Dr. Edwards supports athletes from numerous National Sport Organizations, professional sports teams, Canadian Universities and youth sports organizations. She is the team psychiatrist for the Hamilton Tiger Cats and the company psychiatrist for the National Ballet of Canada. She has authored several book chapters and journal articles about the topics of Psychiatric Emergencies, Depression, Maltreatment, and Personality Disorders in sport, as well as the role of the Interdisciplinary Support Team in supporting athletes with mental illness. She is the current President of the International Society for Sports Psychiatry and sits on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Academy of Sports and Exercise Medicine and the Student Athlete Mental Health Initiative. Dr. Edwards is a passionate advocate for the protection of athletes and safeguarding of the sport experience. Karlie is currently a student at McMaster university where she is completing her fourth year and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2024. Karlie first became interested in human movement and biomechanics during her 14 years as a competitive dancer. Following the completion of her competitive career, Karlie went on to instruct youth dance classes and spent time volunteering with lacrosse teams in the greater Toronto area. It was during this time that she gained an appreciation for the importance of athlete health and injury prevention in youth sports and chose to pursue her degree.

Sophie is currently a third-year at McMaster University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, with plans to graduate in 2026. Her interest in human movement and sports science developed through her experiences as an athlete, particularly as a member of the varsity women’s lacrosse team at McMaster. Sophie’s time on the lacrosse field has given her a deep understanding of the demands of competitive sports and the importance of maintaining physical health. She is passion about injury prevention and athlete performance, which has led her to focus her studies on these areas.

Emily is a highly experienced Physiotherapist who specializes in helping active individuals and athletes recover from injury, move better, and perform at their best. With a strong foundation in sports and performance rehabilitation, she brings both clinical expertise and real-world sideline experience to every athlete she works with.

Emily completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Alberta in 2011 and went on to earn her Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2013. Before becoming a Physiotherapist, she worked as a Kinesiologist and Strength and Conditioning Coach, giving her a deep understanding of training demands, performance, and return-to-play decision making.

She has advanced training in spinal manipulation, functional dry needling, and concussion management, and completed a Master of Clinical Science in Advanced Healthcare Practice with a focus on Comprehensive Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Emily is also a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapists (FCAMPT) and stays at the forefront of care by actively contributing to clinical research and evidence-based practice.

Emily currently serves as the Head Therapist for the Toronto Rock Lacrosse Club and is also the Physiotherapist for the Oakville Rock Sr. A Team. Her experience includes working with Team Canada at the 2024 Box Lacrosse World Championships, the Edmonton Miners Lacrosse Club, and providing sideline care across sports such as lacrosse, basketball, soccer, rugby, and baseball. She also spent eight years working with the Canadian Armed Forces, treating high-performing individuals in physically demanding roles.

As both a clinician and published researcher, Emily is passionate about using the latest evidence to guide treatment, but her focus is always on what matters most to athletes: clear answers, practical rehab, and a confident return to sport.
